UPDATED: Accident on major route into Canterbury

An accident on Sturry Road in Canterbury this afternoon is affecting travel into and out of the city.

Stagecoach says it is having to divert buses along Vauxhall Road and Broad Oak to avoid serious delays to its services.

Two vehicles were involved in the accident at the junction with Brymore Road.

“Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”

The accident happened close to the junction with Brymore Road.

Routes affected include those going to and from Sturry, Herne, Herne Bay and the towns on the Isle of Thanet.

Stagecoach added: “Some buses are caught in the congestion and are subject to delay. This will have a knock on effect for their ongoing journeys.”

Police reopened the road at 3pm.
