Saturday 1st December: Canterbury 24 v Old Albanians 12
by David Broadbridge
Canterbury consolidated their 2nd place in National League 2 South last Saturday with a splendid five point bonus victory over Old Albanians 24-12. It was Canterbury’s sixth straight win in a row and had its momentum from an outstanding first half performance.

Playing up the slope in difficult conditions, Canterbury’ ball retention and slick handling resulted in a convincing seventeen point lead at half-time with tries from Sam Kenny, Charlie Grimes and Aiden Moss.
A hugely supportive crowd, many of whom were wearing pink, as were the team, in support of the club’s Macmillan charity day, really appreciated the dynamic play by both pack and backs in that first half.
If the momentum was not quite maintained after half-time, the damage had already been done, and although Old Albanians provided a more spirited second-half performance, a further try from Royce Cadman added to Canterbury’s convincing overall performance to give them a five point bonus victory.
The next home game is on Saturday 15th December at 3.00 pm against Barnes at the Marine Travel Ground. Why not give yourself a break from Christmas shopping and go and watch the classy team that Canterbury have become this season.
