Three open spaces in the Canterbury district have been awarded Green Flag awards.
The Westgate Parks in Canterbury received the award for the second year in a row while Duncan Down in Whitstable wins for the 13th successive year and Reculver Country Park regains its award after a year off.
Green Flags are awarded as part of a national programme which recognises high standards of care in open spaces and which also involve people in making attractive places for both human beings and wildlife.
Cllr Neil Baker, chairman of the city council’s community committee, said: “Lots of hard work goes into looking after them, so these awards are well deserved.
“I would particularly like to thank the volunteer groups we work so closely with – the Friends of Westgate Parks and the Friends of Duncan Down.
“Their contribution to this success cannot be underestimated and we are very grateful for all they do.”
