Find out how to get a free red wheelie bin, but hurry – numbers are limited

Canterbury City Council has 1,000 red-lidded wheelie bins to give away to residents for free.

The bins are for paper and card and are only available for people who have no paper or card insert or who want to swap their insert for a red bin.

Those who have a red bin already are not eligible.

Council spokesman Rob Davies said: “We expect these to go like hot cakes, so people will need to move fast – once they’re gone, they’re gone.”

The bins normally cost £44.80. They will be available on a first come first served basis and will be delivered within about a week of request being received.

Call Serco on 0800 031 9091 to apply for one from 9am today (Thursday).

If the offer is ever repeated perhaps it will be more widely publicised.
