A man who intervened in a disturbance following loss England’s to Croatia in the World Cup semi-final was assaulted.
The victim, who is in his 60s, spotted a baying mob causing trouble on Herne Bay Pier between 9.50pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday, July 11.
He suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital after approaching the group.

Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses.
Det Con Leah Roberts said: “The incident took place in a busy location, and we believe a lot of people would still be in the area, having watched a World Cup match earlier, which was televised on a big screen.
“Thank you to those who have already come forward with information, and we ask that anyone who has information about the incident and has not yet spoken to an officer to contact us.”
