Police have charged a man in connection with the attempted robbery of a woman in her 90s in the city’s Marks and Spencers store.
The victim suffered serious injuries when a man tried to yank her handbag from her trolley in the St George’s Street outlet at 2.35pm on Tuesday, July 31.
She fell to the floor during the incident as the robber made two attempts to take the bag before fleeing empty-handed.

Police subsequently issued a CCTV image of a man from inside the store.
Martin Spencer, 61, from St Peter’s Place, Canterbury, has been charged with robbery and was due to appear at Medway Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday).
