Staff at Pret A Manger have been assured £1,000 each when the company’s sale to a German investment firm is complete.
The sandwich chain has three Kent outlets – in Maidstone, in Bluewater and at the corner of The Parade and Mercery Lane in Canterbury.
It is in the process of being sold to investment firm JAB which also manages brands such as Dr Pepper, Snapple and Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
The £1.5 billion deal will earn Pret co-founder Sinclair Beecham, 59, a reported windfall of £200 million.
He founded the chain in 1986 with Julian Metcalfe, 58, who went on to set the up the sushi firm Itsu.
Pret has almost 500 outlets across nine countries.
