Sam Gyimah, the universities minister, will visit Canterbury Church University next month.
The Conservative MP for Surrey East was made minister last month and his portfolio includes science, research and innovation.
He will tour the campus, meeting staff and students and then take part in an open and free question and answer session.
Christ Church vice-chancellor Prof Rama Thirunamachandran said: “We are delighted the minister is visiting us, to understand more about about our strengths in widening access to higher education and our extensive contribution to the regional economy.”
An audience with Sam Gyimah will take place in the Michael Berry Lecture Theatre in Old Sessions House, Longport, from 6pm to 7.30pm on Thursday, March 1.
