Woman in her 70s needed hospital treatment after assault in town

A woman in her 70s was left needing hospital treatment after being assaulted in Whitstable.

She was injured in Dargate Road at 7.48pm on Tuesday, May 22.

A member of the public who tried to help the victim was also assaulted.

The woman, in her 70s, received injuries to her face and body.

Police arrested 49-year-old man from Faversham on suspicion of assault.

A police spokesman said: “The man, who is known to the woman, remains in police custody whilst officers are still at the scene carrying out enquiries.”
